A vintage Japanese tea bowl (chawan) decorated with the classical unkin-e motif, combining autumn maple leaves and cherry blossoms in a design long associated with Kyoto ceramics.

The bowl features maple leaves in red, turquoise, and gold alongside delicate white cherry blossoms, painted over a softly crackled cream glaze. The decoration continues into the interior, adding to its refined and carefully finished appearance.

This piece was made by Tsukisaka Kozan (月坂湖山), a Kyoto born ceramicist who trained at the Kyoto Municipal Industrial Research Institute and later studied under the third generation Ito Tozan. He later established his own kiln near Tofuku ji in Kyoto and worked in admiration of the traditions of Ninsei and Kenzan.

Presented in its original signed wooden box (tomobako).
