Kumano.is is the fruit of an interracial family that is based between Iceland and Japan.

Kazuma and Sigrún Helga wanted to bring these long living traditions new life in Iceland. Where the rough nature and cold living spaces can meet the warmth and detail of the artistic ways from the land of the rising sun.

The company is named after Kumano in Mie prefecture where the couple had gotten married and　Kazuma has family roots.

In the enchanting tales of Kumano, within the sacred precincts of Kumano Taisha, a mythical three-legged raven called Yatagarasu graces its presence.


Moreover, Kumano's allure lies in its picturesque Rias-style coastline, renowned for its beauty sculpted by the tumultuous Pacific waves. These elements have been the guiding light of bringing the majestic waves of the two islands, Japan and Iceland together
